Why it matters
The cheapest job
you can do to avoid
an expensive one
Sludge builds up at the bottom of every septic tank. Left too long, it fills the tank, overflows into the drainage field, and blocks the pipes that allow liquid to drain into the ground. Once a drainage field is saturated with solids it can't recover — it needs replacing, at a cost of thousands.
Annual desludging prevents all of that. It's the single most effective maintenance task for any septic system, and it costs a fraction of what a drainage field replacement does. Most homeowners know it needs doing every year. The problem is remembering to book it.
We arrange the visit and send you a reminder when it's due the following year. You don't need to think about it — we'll prompt you when the time comes.
How often
How often does
yours need emptying?
12 Months
Septic Tank
Most domestic septic tanks should be desludged every 12 months. A larger household or smaller tank may need it more frequently — we'll advise at the first visit.
12–24 Months
Treatment Plant
Sewage treatment plants typically need desludging every 12–24 months depending on system size and the number of people using it. Annual servicing will flag when a desludge is needed.
6-12 Months
Commercial / High Use
An existing field that's been overloaded — through an undersized tank or years without emptying — may be beyond recovery. We assess the existing field honestly and tell you whether it can be reused or needs replacing.
What happens on the day
Simple, quick,
no disruption
01
We arrive at the agreed time
Our licensed tanker arrives at the scheduled time. Access to the tank lid is all that's needed — we handle the rest. Most domestic empties take less than an hour.
02
Full desludge carried out
We pump out the full tank contents — solids and liquid — leaving the tank clean and operating correctly. All waste is removed by licensed carriers and disposed of legally.
03
Visual inspection included
While we're there, we carry out a visual check of the tank and accessible components. If we spot anything that needs attention, we'll tell you — no charge for the observation.
04
Written record & reminder set
You receive a written service record after the visit. We also log the date and send you a reminder when your next empty is due — so it doesn't get forgotten again.
